Obituary for Beatrice M. Filewich

Beatrice M. Filewich, 92, of State College died Friday October 3, 2014 at Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, State College.

She was born August 17, 1922 in Trafford City, a daughter of Therman C. and Sarah E. (Woodring) Wiser. She had resided in Port Matilda with her first husband Walter Spackman who died in 1980. She also had been married to her second husband John Filewich who passed away in 2004.

Surviving are 3 children, Ray Spackman of Philipsburg, Jerry Spackman and wife Paulette of Philipsburg, Nina Hammer and husband Fred of State College, a granddaughter Chrishawn Spackman of Virginia a grandson Jerry Spackman of Florida, 4 great-grandchildren , a great-great-grandchild, a brother Rony Wiser of Bellefonte, 3 step-children Alan Filewich and wife Carole of Indiana, Kenny Filewich of Donora, Donna Fero of Monessen , 5 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Therman, Gerald and Richard and 2 step-children.

She worked in many places including the Penn State Photo Lab, State College as a clerk for nine years, G.C Murphy, State College for 5 years, Evan Furs in Chicago for three years and many other jobs in several cities over her lifetime.

She loved going out to dinner and was a friend to everyone.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 7, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Port Matilda Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Port Matilda Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
