Basil E. Kost, 85, of Tyrone died Sunday Morning May 17, 2015 at Colonial Courtyard, Tyrone.

He was born August 28, 1929 in Tyrone a son of Wesley Eugene and Bertha (Kozak) Kost. On June 9, 1956 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone he married Nancy E. Morello. She died December 19, 2003.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Lisa R. Kost of Austin, Texas, Nanette Peterman and husband Brad of Tyrone, 2 sons, Tony J. and fiancée Kathryn of Tyrone, James E. and wife Monika of Tyrone, 4 grandchildren, Byron, Evan and Adam Kost andTravis Peterman, a brother John Kost of Bellwood and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Julia Marshall and Anna Closson.

Mr. Kost retired in 1999 from PennDot as a highway inspector following 20 years service. He was previously employed at Westvaco, Alcoa and the Prismo Corp.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was a 1947 graduate of Tyrone High School and a Penn State graduate in Mechanical Engineering. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War serving as a Staff Sergeant.

Basil enjoyed being with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events. He liked to sit on his porch and listen to music.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
