Obituary for Joseph A. Damico

Joseph A. Damico, 88, of Tyrone died Friday April 1, 2016 at Epworth Manor.

He was born August 13, 1927 in Tyrone a son of Santo and Philamena (Cavouti) Damico. On September 1, 1956 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone he was married to Nancy L. Price by Msg. Patrick Harkins.

Surviving are his wife, two sons Joseph K. of Tyrone, Samuel M. and wife Mary Bea of Malvern, a daughter Elizabeth “Kim” Wilson and husband Bob of Tyrone, eight grandchildren Matthew, Anthony and wife Ashley, Samuel, Anna and Sarah Damico, Maria Celusniak and husband Chris, Ian and Leonard Wilson, a step-granddaughter Melissa Kline and husband Beau, four great-grandcchildren, Damian, Anthony, Alexa and Allie Damico, a step-great-grandson Brody Kline and a brother George and wife Kay of Martinsburg. He was preceded in death by a sister Antoinette Updike and a brother Basil.

Mr. Damico retired in 1990 from Westvaco, Tyrone as a pipe fitter following 35 years service. He was previously employed at Chicago Rivet and the Pennsylvania Railroad.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone, Howard Gardner American Legion, Anderson-Denny VFW and the Tyrone Hookies Fire Company.

He served in two tours of duty in wartime first with the Navy in WWII, then with the Air Force in Korea.

He enjoyed gardening, baking and sports. He was generous and loved to share his plant and produce with friends and family.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday April 5, 2016 at 12 Noon at St. Matthew Church with Fr. Jozef Kovacik Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
