Obituary for Dennis L. Patton Jr.




Dennis L. Patton Jr., 84, of Tyrone passed away peacefully Sunday December 11, 2016 at UPMC Altoona after a courageous battle of pancreatic cancer surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 26, 1932 in Tyrone, a son of Dennis Sr. and Vivina (Miller) Patton. He married the love of his life of 62 years LuLu L. Hammond on October 30, 1952 in Tyrone. She preceded him in death August 18, 2013.

Surviving are four daughters Denise Partner of Tipton, Dixie Bilka and husband Rick of Bellwood, Donna Huber of Altoona, Dana Gill and husband Jim of Bellwood, He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, John Partner and fiancée Michelle, Denny Partner and wife Angie, Trisha Beeler, Jenn Dean and husband Bobby, Jimmy Gill and wife Bridgette, Joey Gill and wife Breanna and by his great-grandchildren, Asia and Eustis Beeler, Leah Partner, Ryder Dean, Madison Moser, and Wyatt and Taylor Gill. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Becky Jo Bilka, a sister Veta Woomer, a brother Richard and two sons-in-law John Partner and Dennie Huber. He was the last of his immediate family.

Mr. Patton retired in 1994 from PPG, Tipton as line operator following 27 years service.

He was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a staff sergeant with the 180th Infantry Regiment.

Adjusting to life without him will be tough but he’s where he always wanted to be, “home with the Lord”. His suffering has come to an end which is something to be thankful for to help his family.

Friends will be received at Feller Memorial home on Thursday from 5 P.M. until the funeral service at 7:30 P.M. with Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. The Tyrone Honor Guard will accord veteran’s honors at the service.
