Obituary for Richard H. Shawley



Richard H. Shawley, of Altoona formerly of Tipton went to be with the Lord Monday November 20, 2017.

He was born April 5, 1942 in Grazierville, a son of Clyde F. and Erma Christine (Harlow) Shawley. On June 24, 1961 in Grazierville he married Labetta B. (Betz) Hamer.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters Ronda Hocutt and husband Bob of Bellwood, Brenda Rodgers of Lexington Park, Maryland, a son Richard H. Jr. and wife Laura of Tipton, six grandchildren, Kevin, Rick, Kyle, Buddy, Kelsey and Keith, a great-grandson Nate, two sisters Betty Fry of Bellwood, Wanda Suzanne Cowher of Tyrone, two brothers Miles of Kentucky and William of Tyrone and a son-in-law Ray Rodgers of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by four brothers Jim, Mike, Bob and William and three sisters Lois Stango, Sandra Carper and Shirley Emigh.

He was a faithful member of Tipton Baptist Church.

He retired from Small Tube Products, Duncansville as tool room supervisor following 34 years service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a Sergeant in Germany.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working on his 1938 Buick.

Friends will be received on Friday November 24, 2017 from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral service at 11 A.M. at Tipton Baptist Church, Pastor Tim Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
