Obituary for Sidney R. Ormsby

Sidney R. Ormsby, 67, of Warriors Mark died Good Friday April 3, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.

He was born August 21, 1947 in Philipsburg, a son of Oliver H. and Catherine R. (Meek) Ormsby. On December 1, 1988 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone he married Dawn A. Wolfe.

Surviving are his wife, 3 sons, Eli S. Ormsby of Pittsburgh, Evan R. Ott of Bellefonte, Jason A. Wolfe and wife Tina of Warriors Mark, 2 daughters Casey Kensinger and husband Cody of Tyrone, Amilynn M. Wolfe of Tyrone, 7 grandchildren, Noelle, Nicholas and Jordan Wolfe, Tyler, Emily and Cora Wolfe and Mia Kensinger, a great-granddaughter Alexa, his mother a resident of Golden Living, Altoona and a sister Florence Spicer of Hagerstown, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Oliver.

He was a member of the Tyrone Church of the Brethren and belonged to the Men’s Fellowship whose member’s friendship meant a great deal to him.

Mr. Ormsby retired on disability in 2004 having been a lifelong dairy farmer in Warriors Mark. He was a 1965 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.

He was a recipient of a heart transplant in January 2004 and was eternally grateful to the family of Aaron for donating his heart. The journey through the process enriched his life and that of his family greatly. It enabled him to spend immeasurable time raising his children and enjoying his grandchildren. The family is forever grateful to the UPMC Presbyterian family of doctors and nurses responsible for his care in the past 12 years. Organ donation took a new meaning for him and he encouraged everyone he knew to be a donor for the enrichment it brings to peoples lives.

Sidney enjoyed spending time at his home and with his family. He was an avid movie buff and loved his cats, Maggie, Chloe, Gidget and Toby.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Tyrone Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jason Mauk officiating. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Monday from 6 to 9 P.M. and at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
