Obituary for Betty L. Fisher

Betty L. Fisher, 91, of State College formerly of Bald Eagle died Saturday November 28, 2015 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.

She was born June 26, 1924 in Philipsburg, a daughter of Delbert H. and Naomi Pearl (Biddle) Vroman. On May 5, 1941 in Winchester, Virginia she married Ira Albert Fisher Jr. He died January 25, 1986.

Surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth Louise Harrington of Stafford, New York, Donna Jean Campbell of State College, Joan Diane Brown and husband James of Spruce Creek, and Kathy A. Hillard and husband John of Turbotville, a son Terrence Lee and wife Antoinette of Rochester New York, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Nancy Witmer and Naomi V. McCamley both of State College, Judith A. McClure of Bellefonte and a brother Delbert C. Vroman of Mechanicsburg.. She was preceded in death by two sisters Mildred and Sarah.

Mrs. Fisher retired in 1984 from Penn State as housing supervisor at East Halls following 20 years service.

She was a member of the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church and the JOY Sunday School Class

She was an amazing woman, from her work ethic to her sense of family. Her activities in life revolved around her family, ranging from PTA and Scout meetings,sporting events and the church. It was no easy feat getting 5 kids ready for Easter Sunday service. She was an awesome cook who enjoyed canning the garden harvest. She was an accomplished seamstress that made two of her daughter's wedding dresses as well as supplying the neighborhood with her handy cleaning scratchies made from net. She enjoyed bowling, and crocheting her family beautiful afghans. She loved to swim, passing that joy onto all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, most of them having learned to swim in her pool. She was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

Funeral services will be held Friday December 4, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Bald Eagle United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Dittman officiating. Interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
