Obituary for Ralph E. Nebgen

Ralph E. Nebgen, 84, of Sinking Valley died Sunday December 27, 2015 at UPMC Altoona.

He was born July 21, 1931 in Juniata a son of Ralph H. and Anna Louisa (Stitzell) Nebgen. On November 29, 1958 in Bellwood he married Patricia L. Baker. She died January 10, 2010.

Surviving are six daughters, Linda Ochoco and husband Filmore of Doylestown, Karen Gensimore and husband Tim of Alexandria, Susan Kolinchak of Martinsburg, Ellen Machmer and husband Dr. David of South Williamsport, Alice Wagner and husband William of Sinking Valley, Sarah Siesing and husband Christian of Bel Air, Maryland, a son Peter and wife Shelley of Altoona, fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters Betty Lou Byrd of Altoona, Marlene Lingenfelter of Riggles Gap and a brother Raymond of Bellwood,

Mr. Nebgen retired in 1990 from Conrail as a block operator following 45 years service.

He was a member of the Warriors Mark Bible Baptist Church, lifetime member of the NRA, National Watch Clock Society and was past president of the Altoona Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, long drives and trips to Canada. He was a Civil War enthusiast traveling and visiting various battlefields up and down the east coast.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 31, 2015 at 11 A.M. at the Warriors Mark Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Kilian officiating. Interment with veteran’s honors by the Tyrone Honor Guard will follow at Arch Spring Cemetery, Sinking Valley. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. and at the church on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
