Francis X.  Hagg


Francis X. Hagg, 96, of Tyrone died Sunday June 19, 2016 at his home.

He was born December 3, 1919 in Tyrone, a son of Ralph and Emma (Schoch) Hagg. On June 27, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood he married Martha M. Dambeck.

Surviving are his wife a daughter Ann Langenbacher and husband Mark of Warriors Mark, a son Michael Hagg and wife Theresa of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, four grandchildren, Wesley Langenbacher of Charlotte, North Carolina, Erin Larimer and husband Zachary of Pittsburgh, Emma Hagg of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Alexandra Hagg of Charleston, South Carolina, a brother Vincent of Tyrone and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Theresa, two brothers Joseph and Eugene and two sisters Louise Klesius and Sister Mary Lambert RSM.

Mr. Hagg worked on the family farm and for his uncle John Hagg at John Hagg Dairy in Tyrone for 21 years. He then worked at US Envelope and Fonda Cup Factory in Williamsburg for 18 years as a machine operator retiring in 1983.

He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Gregory Council. He attended St. Matthew Parochial School and graduated from the Tyrone Area High School in 1938.

Mr. Hagg served in the US Air Force during WWII as a Staff Sergeant with the 7th Air Force in the South Pacific. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed crossword puzzles

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday June 23, 2016 at 11 A.M. at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Fr. Jozef Kovacik Celebrant. Interment, with veterans honor accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard, will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M.
