Obituary for Jerry Lee Hoy


Jerry Lee Hoy, 60, of Tyrone passed away unexpectedly at home on the morning of Monday September 12, 2016.

He was born October 7, 1955 in Tyrone, a son of Gerald and Dorothy (Brenneman) Hoy. On September 2, 1978 in Pittsburgh he married Eileen Elder. They were married 38 years but were high school sweethearts long before their nuptials.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter Aleah Rose Hoy at home, his mother Dorothy B. Hoy, a resident of Epworth Manor and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Hoy.

Jerry worked at the Central Research Laboratory at Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, Texas for nineteen years before he and his family relocated back to Tyrone in 1994 to be close to family. He was previously employed at C-COR Electronics, State College and had been a crew leader at American Eagle, Tyrone for the past decade.

He was a 1973 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and continued on to complete a Degree in Electronics from the Ohio Institute of Technology in 1975. He was of the protestant faith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday September 17, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Mark Liller of First Presbyterian Church, Tyrone officiating. Private interment will follow at Burket Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday for 6 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of services.
