Joan M.  Kough (Brisbin)


Joan M. Kough, 85, of Tyrone died Tuesday January 3, 2017 at Tyrone Hospital.

She was born July 4, 1931 in Tyrone a daughter of Samuel and Anna (Beyer) Brisbin. On December 14, 1953 at the Columbia Ave. Methodist Church, Tyrone she married Paul E. Kough. He died October 1, 2006.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Marie Plocinik and husband Daniel of Baltimore, Maryland, Eileen Carol Mitchell and husband John H. of State College, Joleen Lynn Kough and husband Greg Armandroff of Tyrone, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Samuel Brisbin and a sister Helen Brisbin Dearing.

Mrs. Kough had been employed for thirty years as an operator and assistant manager for Sears, Tyrone. She previously worked at Westvaco and Lugg and Edmonds, Tyrone and most recently at Marianna’s Foods for 7 years.

She was an active and faithful member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone. She had received her sixty year membership award on November 17, 2013. She served as pianist, Sunday school teacher, choir member, youth director and was director of the children’s choir for many years.

She was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone High School and secretary of her class. She was a member of the Woman’s Sewing Club.

Joan was a wonderful cook and enjoyed crocheting and making Afghans. She liked going to the ocean and Glendale Lake. Family and church were very important to her and she was loved and respected by all.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 7, 2017 at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. David Dearing officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home.
