Obituary for John L. "Jack" Boyer

John L. "Jack"  Boyer

John L. “Jack” Boyer, 80, of Tyrone died Thursday July 13, 2017 at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

He was born February 12, 1937 in Philipsburg, a son of Charles and Hilda (Dick) Boyer. He was married to Donna Murray in Warriors Mark.

He is survived by his loving wife, a son Michael and wife Wendy of Tyrone, daughter-in-law Amy, four grandchildren: Sara, Abigail, Andrew and Adam, a sister Joane Nelson of Spruce Creek and a brother Chester and wife Coni of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by a son John W. and a brother Galen.

He worked many decades in the general contracting business with J.C. Yenter Associates of Tyrone, eventually becoming co-owner of the firm. Jack was a graduate of Juniata Valley High School.

Jack loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing for bass and walleye on the Juniata River and Raystown Lake. He coached the Warriors Mark Teener League baseball team in the 70s and 80s.

Friends will be received on Sunday at Feller Memorial Home from 2 to 4 P.M. and on Monday July 17, 2017 from 10 A.M. until the time of services at 11 A.M. with Pastor Roy Garthwaite officiating. Interment will follow at Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602.
