Obituary for Lois G. McCoy (Umholtz)

Lois G. McCoy, 93, Tyrone, died Monday at Epworth Manor.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of Joseph L. and Mary E. (Anderson) Umholtz. On Dec. 11, 1944, she married Gerald E. McCoy at the Tyrone United Brethren Parsonage. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2004.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Dunkel and husband, Edward, of Tyrone; a son, Gerald E. II and wife, Diana, of Tyrone; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Joanne Stanton of Port Matilda; and a sister-in-law, Carol Estright and husband, Sam, of Sandy Ridge.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen (Umholtz) Irvin.

Affectionately known as “Dumpy” to family and friends, Lois was a homemaker, loving wife and mother who enjoyed being with her family, reading, word puzzles and watching TV. She was of the Protestant faith and was known for her generous and caring ways to her family and those in need.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, and from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the funeral Home, Pastor Richard Harter officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
