Obituary for Helen M. Grindall
Helen Marie Grindall, 82, of Tyrone passed into heaven’s gates on Easter Sunday April 21, 2019 at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
She was born November 13, 1936 in New York City, a daughter of Irving and Helen (McGuigan) Close. She was twice married to John Grindall who preceded her in death on April 15, 2016.
Surviving are a daughter Theresa Long, grandsons; Timothy and John Fink, Chris Keys, Thomas and Michael Schubert, granddaughters; Ashlee Corman, Helen and Angie Fink many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers; William and Daniel Close and a sister Betty Porter.
Helen was a telephone operator for PBX from 1956-1957 and had been a nurses aide at Epworth Manor. She was an ovarian cancer survivor for 29 years and had attended and walked for 12 years in all the Relay for Life events in Blair County, Central Pa., And Troy, New York.
Helen loved to talk to people, go to yard sales, and long drives. She enjoyed reading about the history of the Amish community.
She will be missed by all her friends and neighbors at the Pennsylvania House.
Funeral services will be held Monday April 29, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home. Interment will follow at Graysville Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
