Obituary for George "Ed" Lehman

George E. “Ed” Lehman, 87, of Bald Eagle died Wednesday December 18, 2019 at UPMC Altoona.

He was born May 20, 1932 in Vail , a son of Ernest and Delilah (Sharer) Lehman. He was twice married first to Florence Eaken on January 31, 1954. She preceded him in death on September 21, 1983. He then was married to Marilyn Cowin Scales on June 22, 1985 at Bald Eagle United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, children; Cindy Taylor (Jimmie) of Tyrone, Edward Lehman (Genny) of Warriors Mark, Julie Patton of Tyrone, Debra Brough (Jim) of Bedford, Laura Lytle (Greg) of Altoona, Jim Scales (Georgetta) of Mt. Airy, MD, grandchildren; Matt and Beth DeArmitt, Sarah, Emily, Cory and Claire Lehman, Nichole and Luke (Katie) Taylor, Wendi Dowler (Jason), Tara Morrison (Paul), Lindsay McCahan (David), Danielle McNelis (Patrick), Tyler (Krista) and Matt (Darcy) Brough, Andrew (Kira), Stephanie and Alec (Katie) Lytle, Brady and Devin Scales and Kristen Wyant (Steve), great-grandchildren; Kara Mills, Peyton and Cooper McCahan, Lena and Willa McNelis, Abby and Miesha DeArmitt, Karson and Wyatt Taylor, Raelyn and Alydia Lytle, Kameron Holderbaum, Chandra Sell and Sierra Morrison. He was preceded in death by a 2 daughters Lisa Lehman and Judy DeArmitt and a granddaughter Kristi Taylor.

Mr. Lehman retired in 1994 from Westvaco, Tyrone as a machine runner following 43 years service.

He was a Sergeant with the U.S. Marines in the Korean Conflict serving as a telephone linesman.

He was a member of Bald Eagle United Methodist Church, a life member of the Bald Eagle, Neptune and Hookies Fire Companies and a member of the Bald Eagle Sportsman Club and the Korean War Vets. He had served as Captain of the Tyrone Fire Police for 12 years and was on the Tyrone Area High School Board of Directors for 12 years. In addition he was past Master of the Bald Eagle Grange and had been vice-president of the Bald Eagle Cemetery Association. He had also coached the Bald Eagle Little League Baseball teams for many years,

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Saturday December 21, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Bald Eagle United Methodist Church with Rev. Peter Dittman officiating. Interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery Friends will be received at Feller Memorial Home on Friday for 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
