Obituary for Robert K. "Bobby" Sweitzer

Robert K. Sweitzer, 65, of Tyrone died Monday June 1, 2020 at his residence.

He was born September 4, 1954 in Tyrone, a son of Harold F. and Louise M. (Franchio) Sweitzer.

Surviving are three sisters; Kay Spacht and husband Walter, Judy Haverstein and husband Robert and Brenda all of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a brother Harold “Butch”.

He was a 1972 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and a member of the Tyrone Monogram Club Hall of Fame.

Bobby is considered one of the best athletes to come out of Tyrone High School. In high school he was the point guard on some of the most outstanding basketball teams in the area. His basketball talents led him to a scholarship at Brandywine College Junior College in Delaware where he won the schools freshman award as best athlete. He became an accomplished golfer and in 1981became head professional at Sinking Valley Country Club and later Indian Acres in Everett.

During his years as club professional he was very active as a tournament player. He would compete regularly on the mini-tours of that era including the Philly/New Jersey and J.C. Goosie mini tour events,

Following his professional years he regained his amateur status and was a consistant winner in local club and two ball championships in the area.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at the discretion of the family.
