Obituary for Frances M. Wertz (Schneider)

Frances M. Wertz, 92 of Tyrone died peacefully at home Wednesday August 12, 2020 surrounded by her loving husband of 71 years and her family

She was born November 9, 1927 in Tyrone, a daughter of Frank and Anne (Trimer) Schneider. On October 12, 1948 at St. Matthew Catholic Church rectory she married Lee E. Wertz Jr.

Surviving are her husband, three daughters; Ann Knab and husband Richard of Tyrone, Sue Wertz of Tyrone, Barbara Wertz-Leiden and husband Charles of Altoona, a son James Wertz and wife Christine of Sinking Valley, ten grandchildren; Ryan, Eric, Jeffrey, Luke, Hannah, Christopher, Amanda, Jessica, Mara and Julia, six great-grandchildren; Richard, Ian, Brandon, Rayna, Alena and Ciaran along with Fran’s surviving sisters; Corrine Jones of West Chester, Julia O’Hara of Illinois and Virginia Frantz of Tyrone. She was preceded in death by a grandson Andrew Wertz and two sisters, Jeanne and Martha.

“Fran” was a lifelong faithful member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, dedicated mother and adored her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

From a very young age she was quite the entrepreneur and had a plethora of jobs and endeavors. She opened The Boutique in 1983 and through the “art of selling” expanded it into a successful family owned business spanning 32 years.

She loved her flowers, lively music, dancing, art, beauty and being the “life of the party”. Always surrounded by good company, she is now celebrating a joyous reunion with those who have gone before her.

Private funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
