Obituary for Elwood T. Palmer Jr.

Elwood T. Palmer, Jr., 87, of Tyrone died Friday September 18, 2020 at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born October 5,, 1932 in Philipsburg, a son of Elwood T. Sr. and Dorothy A. (Russell) Palmer. On November 26, 1960 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone he married Barbara A. Lynch.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters; Brenda Cherry and husband Dwayne of Tipton, Karen Cherry and fiancee Paul Seitz of East Berlin, a son John Palmer of Tyrone, grandchildren; Jen Cherry, Katie Detwiler, Dwayne Cherry II (Mari), Laura Weaver (Dan), Elizabeth McCutcheon, Courtney Montgomery (Shawn) and Megan Cherry (Travis), great-grandchildren; Lily and Macy Miller, Adam Detwiler, GiGi and Gabbi Cherry, Landen Snare, Silas Cherry, Daniel Weaver II and Ben Detwiler. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary.

Mr. Palmer retired in 1994 from the assembly line at PPG Industries, Tipton following 24 years service.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Anderson-Denny VFW, Howard Gardner American Legion and the Colerain Fishing Club, Spruce Creek. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Elwood was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and gardening.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
