Obituary for Ronald L. "Speed" Walk

Ronald L. "Speed"  Walk


Ronald L. “Speed” Walk, 81, of Bald Eagle died Wednesday March 29, 2017 at his residence.

He was born August 29, 1935 in Matternville, a son of Guy and Marjorie (Mattern) Walk. On March 3, 1967 in Port Matilda he married Pansy Laird. She died September 26, 2002.

Surviving are two sons, Deny and wife Emma of Clarksville, Jody and wife Yvonne of Bald Eagle, two sons and two daughters to a previous marriage, Von and Guy Walk and Carmen and Debbie, five grandchildren, Lindsey, Harley and Cameron Walk, Kyle and Kacey Poorman, a brother Gerald and wife Jane of Bald Eagle and companion Judy Dennis of Bald Eagle.

Mr. Walk retired in 2000 from Penn State University as boiler mechanic at the power plant following eleven years service. He had also operated a small engine repair form his home.

He was a member of the Hannah United Methodist Church, Pa. Sheriff’s Association, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania, a life member of the Port Matilda Fire Company, life member of Pine Grove Mills VFW #5825, a charter member of American Legion Riders, and a charter member of Cycle Pal’s Motorcycle Club.

He was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Korean Conflict as a private first class.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his motorcycles and camping at the Grange Fair. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and restoring antique tractors.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 3, 2017at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Ben Grove and Rev. Sam Reese officiating. Interment with veteran’s honors by the Tyrone Honor Guard will follow at Gray’s Cemetery, Stormstown. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 P.M.
