Obituary for Mary M. Welsh (Farrell)

Mary M. (Farrell) Welsh, 89, formerly of Tyrone died passed to her Heavenly Home Monday April 25, 2016 at her home in South Williamsport, Pa..

She was born October 2, 1926 in Altoona, a daughter of Benjamin P. and Mary A. (Muri) Farrell. On October 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to the late William E. Welsh by the Rev. Fr. John B. Galias at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Altoona.

Mary is survived by her children, Marylee Gordon and husband Tom , William R. and wife Mary, Gail Welsh, Cynthia Casey and husband Tim, Robert Welsh and wife Mary, Rita Swanson, Arlene Butters and husband Mark with whom she lived, David Welsh and wife Donna, Lisa Lovell and husband Scott and daughter –in-law Beth Welsh. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters Rita Kelliher and Susan Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband, a son Steven Welsh, her late parents, six brothers George, Patrick, James, John, Alfred, and Michael, four sisters Sr. Euphrasia Farrell R.S.M., Gertrude Wicker, Florence Holmberg, Anne McCaa and son-in-law Clyde Swanson.

We have been truly blessed to have her for a mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a gentle, kind, selfless, unconditional person who was devoted to her family and Catholic faith. She will be greatly missed.

She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, a 50 year member of Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Rita #523, Tyrone Historical Society and Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday April 30, 2016 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone with Fr. Joseph Fleming officiating. There will be no viewing with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

There family will provide the flowers and Mary suggests contributions in her memory may be made to Blair County Chapter American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, Pa, 16648
